FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most about websites, domains and business email.

What is the difference between a domain name and web hosting?
The domain name is your address on the internet — the part people type. Web hosting is the server where your website files actually live. You can own a domain without hosting a site on it, and you can change hosting providers while keeping the same domain, which is why the two are usually managed separately.
Why do my emails end up in spam?
Almost always because the mail authentication records are missing or wrong. SPF declares which servers may send mail for your domain, DKIM signs the message cryptographically, and DMARC tells receiving servers what to do when a message fails those checks. When any of the three is absent, filters quietly downgrade your mail to spam.
What does HTTPS actually change?
HTTPS encrypts the traffic between the visitor's browser and your server, so nothing in between can read or alter it. It also proves the visitor reached the real site rather than an impostor. Modern browsers mark plain HTTP sites as not secure, and some features refuse to work without HTTPS.
Can we update the website ourselves after it is built?
Yes. On WordPress-based sites the pages, news and images are editable by your own team through an admin panel, and we show the relevant staff how to do it during handover. If you would rather not touch it, we can maintain the content for you as part of an ongoing support arrangement.
Do we need to move our website when changing hosting providers?
Technically yes — the files and database have to be copied to the new server, and DNS then has to be pointed at it. Practically, a well-prepared migration means copying and testing the site on the new host first, lowering the DNS time-to-live in advance, and switching over in a quiet period, which keeps downtime to minutes.
What should we send you when something breaks?
The website or mailbox address affected, what you expected to happen, what happened instead, and a screenshot or the exact error message. If it is a mail problem, the full message headers let us trace exactly where it was stopped. With that information most issues can be diagnosed without back-and-forth.
